The Last of The Summer Wine!
That brings back memories. The light coloure gable end just left of centre in the background used to be Levi Athertons store, a rel pleasant gent, to the left behind the tree was the COOP Store, further left was the "New School" Church school, then just behind the flagpole was Leighs farm used to help out there a bit with the pigs and big horses, just to the right of that small row of houses there was a smooth stretch of pavement and we always made a slide on it before going into the Methodist School.
Dennis, what a fantastic photo, brings back many memories of when I worked at the Co-op shop that Ken R mentions, when I was a 15 year old just after leaving school in 1962.
Dennis, where have you got all these photos from? They are fantastic. I was telling our Len the other day and not many people had cameras in those days. Remember Levi Atherton's shop. Used to go shopping there for my Aunty Mrs. Fletcher who lived on Crawford Ave.
