A demonstration of 'Nude Female Mud Wrestling' appears to have caught the imagination of the Wigan Public.

This is the first round Championship "play-off" in the 1947-48 season. Wigan had finished top of the table but surprisingly lost this match against Bradford Northern 3 - 15, and were knocked out. I was at the record attendance v St Helens match, that was on Good Friday, 1959, Wigan won 19 - 14.
