Rylance's was a well know business in Pemberton for many years, soon to be taken over by Abbott & Smith, another well known Pemberton business.

Is this furniture shop still going, I have been past there a couple of times over the years but just haven't noticed, also remember the butchers next door - Sweeney - what a name for a butcher. :~@

In the late forties there was a petrol pump in front of the store,near where the lamp post is.The shop before Sweeneys,was Jim Stephens Grocers.Mother allways shopped there.

I remember Sweeneys having the shop next door, then it was taken over by another butcher think the name was Melling. The last business there was a computer game shop and the building was converted to a house a few years ago.

Dennis Melling took the butcher's shop over in the late 1980s.
