Thanks for posting - as an old ex-Wiganer I've often heard mention of Water Heyes and wasn't able to bring it to mind - now I can. Just out of interest have you taken all these photos of Wigan yourself? The quality is excellent.
Water Heys Mill was in this vicinity wasn't it? All I know is that the Eckersley's owned it along with Swan Meadow.
Walter, I took a lot of these photos in the late 80s and early 90s when Wigan was changing radically. I had a bike, a camera (Pentax me super) and a bit of spare time. Thanks to you Walter, Fred and everybody for your kind comments.
i used to walk along here on match days .micky mayor sold progammes here
I used to walk along here most days on the way back to the Ritz to catch the bus, after calling at hiltons for a penny vimto lolly.
There was a small bridge probably just where the photo was taken.
Water heyes produced flameproof lighting & switching equipment for coalmines, petroleum product producers, etc.
The Naylors Spiralarm miners safety lamp was one of their products, I believe
