Hi Neil, I knew your dad very briefly when I went to Aspull sec modern in the late 50s early 60s but I knew your grandma better, she taught me English and was also my form teacher. I have lots of fond memories of those days.
I remember his mum from Aspull Sec School, She taught English,
Elizabeth Parkinson.
I remember John, we were in the same class when Aspull Sec Mod opened in January 1960. He then went on to Rivington Grammar School with one or two others - David Hart, Kenneth Seddon being two I remember. His mum taught me English and games especially netball. She was a great teacher.
I remember John from my days at Rivington and Blackrod Grammar. He was in the year above me. I started there in 1961. His nickname was 'Parky' and he was a decent football player.
john was an officer at hindley prison [young offenders].he gained a lot of respect from officers and inmates alike for his fair and caring ways
