Brilliant to see this photo, it also gives a clue as to when J Cooper, photographer was "operating" in Wigan, i.e. around 1870 which suggests perhaps some of his other photos might well have been taken as early as the 1860's.

When I see photos like this...my imagination runs wild..Oh to be a fly on the wall inside there,or in any of those buildings.

Highly unusual to see a date on any of these early Wigan photos by John Cooper who was also a pub landlord in the town at one time (The Royal Oak, Standishgate) perhaps not surprising then that this photo is from the same street.
