A good view of old Wigan, Makinson Arcade and Crank & Burton's on the rightr before the BHS shop was built.

Is the building in the centre background behind the telegraph pole the original Hope St Congregational Church? I believe it stood for many years after the 'new' church was built on the corner of Hope St and Mesnes Terrace.

The building behind the telegraph pole is Hope Hall where the Salvation Army held their meetings for many years.

On the right the old three story Crank and Burton building, another fantastic building consigned to a heap of rubble by out great council.The same council who are always advocating saving Wigan's Heritage, When they were the main culprits in demolishing it.
