I agree with Josie. I love post-offices and would loveto be able to walk into this one and have a good look round! I imagine it to be pen-and-ink, cardboard boxes,savings books, postal-orders, brown wrapping-paper and string.....no plastic!

LOOK AT THE CHAP HOLDING THE DOG.LOOKS LIKE A VERY YOUNG POSTMAN.BUT THEN THEY DID START TO WORK VERY YOUNG IN THOSE DAYS.I STILL USE THIS POST OFFICE.GREAT PHOTO THANKS FOR POSTING

Wasn't Mrs Clegg the post mistress - she lived in the house at the side of the post office. The sorting office was behind the post office on a piece of spare land in Turton Street.
