Old alley in Standishgate that led to the market. Anyone know it's name?
The alley you refer to was called Harwardens Yard or 3 Crowns Yard. This shoe shop was formerly the 3 Crowns pub where my Grandma was the landlady around the end of the 1930s. There was Kanes the fabric shop and Cameo hairdressers in the yard too and it came out at the back of British Home Stores.
yes your right about the yard .I went every sataday to the hairdressers with my mum, it was up a flight of stairs and run by a mother and daughter .... gosh i can picture the inside of it now .Happy days .

I used to work here, i started as a sat girl wen i was 13 in 1977, and then they took me on full time when i left school, Happy days x
