Nice to see a gas mantle, there wouldnt have been much light off that lamp, but it served a purpose.

Aye, the gas lamps were a bit dim. I remember the lamplighter going round on his bike.

Goodness me, I remember this well, as a kid I lived on Crawford Ave and would often gather with the lads opposite the Finger Post, it was on the corner of Scot Lane and Bolton Road, we were chased many a time by Bobby Chalmers and Sargent Hughes.

the corner shop at the end of the row of houses it was owend by Mr Higham they had a daughter Barbara i used to play with what memories these photos bring back
