Taken about 1955, I think, and guessing really at Hunter's Hill - Blue Lagoon - as a location. I don't know who the car belonged to. I think that it is a Hillman Mynx. I don't know much really. It was a nice day! This little girl became my Auntie ( a proper Auntie ) and, aside from teaching me how to say 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' after watching Mary Poppins in the Court Cinema in 1964, bought me my first Famous Five book thereby budding a lifetime of reading and collecting books. I've even paid money for some acquisitions since then. It's a precious and profound gift - a book. I never managed 'supercalifragilisiticexpialidocious' backwards but that's probably going a bit too far don't you think?

Would this location be past the Rigbye Arms pub?

Excellent picture and insightful comments. I too love books and fondly remember the children's library on Station Rd. I actually lied about my age so I could join the adult library but nothing could replace those childhood days of the Secret Seven, Famous Five, Biggles & Just William.

The car is an Hillman Minx. Introduced in late 55 for 1956, it was the last mark in this shape and,in more innocent times, being the first time it was offered in two tone, was advertised as 'The Gay Look'

Nostalgic photo dk & I always enjoying reading you comments of times gone by.
I actually saw a Hillman Minx yesterday at a Classic Car rally in the town where I live. Cars looked like cars in those days...if you see what I mean.

This is at the top of Bannister Hill (1 in 4) looking East to Harrock Hill where an old windmill stands. At this time behind the photographer used to be a tiny lagoon with a 'beach' that we used to play in during the early 60's.
