No not the same person. Albert died whilst living in Spring Street. He lost his arm in an accident in the pit. Hence the invalid car. Maybe Eileen, his daughter, who loaned me the photograph to put on the site, will be able to give all the details.

Wasn't there a workshop at Rose Bridge that built these invalid cars.

I worked on casualty at the Infirmary and had numerous occasions to treat people using one of these invalid cars, they were so lightweight in a strong wind they blew over

This was my dads car, he lost his arm and was paralised from his knees down in a pit accident at the wood pit in 1959 he had the car from about 1960, and he lived at 84 spring street till he died in 1968 just wondered if anyone remembered him or the car.

I used to have one of these in the 70's and early 80's. There was a place in Rose Bridge that used to repair them. A bloke called Frank used to be the boss. It later moved to Lovers lane, Atherton.

The cars were made by Greeves Motorcycles. They were known has the Invacar. The early models used a Villiers 2 stroke motor bike engine. When Villiers closed the engine was replaced by 500cc and 600cc engines made by Puch-Steyer and Fiat.
