Another photograph of me in my train with my girlfriend <g> It was the fact I owned my own train that impressed her...

What a cracking photo Ron-you've not changed.

Yep that's some Babe magnet Ron.

Comment by: Jimmy on 8th April 2011 at 20:04

Did you let her have a go on your train Ron?

Comment by: Nicola on 8th April 2011 at 21:26

Which street would that be?

Comment by: tones on 8th April 2011 at 23:10

Them doorsteps were well 'whitewashed'.

Comment by: RON HUNT on 9th April 2011 at 00:09

Nicola it's SPRING ST. off Darlington Street. Taken about 1950

Comment by: Ken R on 9th April 2011 at 00:14

I dont think "white washed" was the terminology, it was probably "donkey stoned"

Comment by: Jimmy on 9th April 2011 at 00:20

It looks like your girlfriends dad is running down the street to rescue her from your clutches Ron

Lovely photo Ron, when children were children and played outside in a car free street.

Hi folks, Thanks for your comments. Yes a time when girls and boys could play out in the street, all day. I peddled that train some miles up and down the street, even with the dodgy front wheels. I'd love to find out who the girl is, and if she still lives in Wigan? She really was a good looking little girl.

Those kind of toys were quite commonplace, I had one very similar, only a lorry not a train. It was dark red with a hole in the floor for your feet to go through so you could push yourself along - no pedals!

Comment by: RON HUNT on 10th April 2011 at 12:13

This train had 'pedals'if I remember they were two medal bars, you pushed forward which were connected to the front wheels.

You must have had the Deluxe version Ron! Mine was made of wood, my playmate had a metal pedal car with a proper chrome radiator grille, like a Wolseley. Pale blue it was.
