What a great set of photos from both Alan Tickle and Ron Hunt - this is exactly what the album on wiganworld should be about.

Another building that should have been preserved. Why do Wigan Council hate our towns heritage? Just look at the mess they made of scholes. Brave new world?... I think not.

Well... what would you have suggested it be used for these days?

Most the people on here are stuck in victorian times how they wish for all things 'past', whether that includes rat infested market halls, back to back slums in Scholes or grim buildings like this. Progress (for good or bad) happens!

Neil, progress is inevitable but should be a gradual and positive process. Wigan council seem to have a knack for identifying the good things and destroying them, they operate a change for the sake of change policy.
