Its before 1956 coz thats when the trolley buses ceased to operate

Trolley buses used this route between Atherton and St Helens, operated by LUT. They ran from 1925 to 1958 until the arrival of diesel powered buses. The power cables and post still remained erected for some time before they was dismantled and vanished by 1960.

I lived in Ince in the late 40s and 50s and I never knew there were trolley buses in Hindley. As they say, we learn something every day.

Its may seem odd, John, but living in Ince I always wentin the Wigan direction. It wasn't until the 1960s that I went to Hindley!

Info from Hindley Libary says the Trolley buses ceased in 1956 at the time of the Suez crisis
