I was born there on 2nd March 1947. My mother always told me she was put to sleep for my birth because the Doctor said " I don't like to see you ladies in pain!" Imagine that now! I then had my tonsills & adenoids out there when I was 7 yrs old. I went in a ward with other children. Possibly for the same operation (a conveyor belt) The night nurse was lovely because I missed my mum, but the nurse who had to give me an injection, was very bad tempered, I remember vivedly. But to ease the pain after, I got icecream & jelly & soft food. I think I was kept in a few days. Nowadays they give you burgers, crisps & chips and sling you out the same day! My Grandpa died there in 1974, so I do have fond memories of the place.

I was born at The Christopher Nursing Home on 27th August 1946. My mother was a young nurse working there. The Matron allowed me to sleep in her office during the day so my mother could continue working.
Its good to see a picture of the home.
