Look up history of "Bellerophon" one of the oldest steam locomotives to be seen in action anywhere in the world,built in 1874 by the Haydock Foundry, to the design of Josiah Evans, and still going in 2011

Your right it was made in St-Helens that became the Central works for the north west coal fields when the NCB took over,if Ron or Brian wish to delete this photo their free do so but the history of the Bellerophon and her five sister loco's should be looked it first, as not only did central works serve the coal mining in the area they also changed the steam locomotives and the way they was made for ever

if you look I didn't start a new place for the photo but added it to the Bickershaw Colliery site with the rest of the Loco's thats been uploaded
