Oh my word... that is a lovely shot!

I am not old enough to remember there being a track there, but I do know where it is... it is Clinker Valley!

Is the bridge from which the photo was taken Walthew Lane or is it Warrington Road there? I was very happy to discover that one of those coffee pots - 49395 - has been preserved and is in working order (thanks to Pete Waterman).

they would be 2 bankers coming back from standish if I miss my guess, theey would go back to the siding just below the Bamfurlong hotel to await the next push over the line to bypass wigan, on the right of the photo is the fishing lake that is now called go fishing, in our days it was cromptons.

I used to live in the end house in Moss Lane. These two engines are about to go under the main road to Spring View and Wigan and on past Spring View Cricket Club. On top of the bridge you could get through the fence and sit on two flags tucked behind the bridge wall.I spent many hours there in the middle of a triangle of railway lines trainspotting. I do believe the flags are still there, over 50 years later!
