I recognise these two guys they were 'on the door' Look at the sign behind them. Gents 10/- Ladies 5/- Wouldn't get away with that today<g> Met my wife there as well. As no doubt plenty of other lads did.
I remember seeing the 'Swinging Blue Jeans' there one Thursday. Their record Hippy Hippy Shake had just got to Number 1 in the charts the previous Sunday. What a coup for the Sportsmens. I practically lived there. Thursdays and Sundays, Dancing. Mondays, Strip Night (two strippers and a couple of comedians). Fridays and Saturdays Cabaret. GREAT TIMES

I was the resident singer with Eric Pep's band in the 60's. Fantastic memories.

Just stumbled on this website and seen the comment by Val Francis - a superb female vocalist. During our time there I was Eric Pep's guitarist and singer. I used to sing the top harmonies to all the pop songs by The Beatles, The Hollies, The Bee Gees etc. I think we were there as the resident band for about six great years. Loved our band, loved the superb professional acts and the whole atmosphere there.

Met the love of my life there, Xmas Eve 1966. Was with my school friend, my ‘love’ was with his friend. We’re still together, 52 years married, our friends also, after 50 years of marriage.
