A view of the old railway warehouse which stood to the south west of North Western station. The picture was taken 22nd December 1986, the building was demolished in February 1987 and the site re developed becoming a large DIY superstore.

Nice one Mick. This site was the original terminus for the G.C. line to Wigan until the line was extended to Central station on Station Rd.
Thanks for putting it on.

This is Wigan Down Goods Yard, the original terminus of the Wigan Branch Railway from Parkside West Junction, later Wigan North Western station(seen in the background) was built when the North Union Railway to Preston was opened. The old GC warehouse was off Darlington Street, part of which may still survive in industrial use.

You have got this one wrong Cliff the building was just off Chapel Lane south of North Western Station on the West Coast Main Line close to where the Range store is now.You are referring to Darlington St Goods which is now Entwhistle and Joynt Tool store which ofcourse was on the Wigan/Glazebrook G.C.Line.

Apologies all round, don't know where I got the idea that this was the GC line. It is of course Chapel Lane goods where the Range shop is now.
Thanks for putting me right nig b and Dave, I'll start taking the tablets again!
