We went in there a lot as kids, that was in the 40s, also the one in Rhyl, it was more a pilgrimage than anything else, wakes week holidays never altered, we never went away for a week, but usualy went somewhere every day, Southport, New Brighton, Rhyl, Morecambe, and last but not least, Chester Zoo,

I remember the Lido too Martin, and yes the water was very bracing, though really nice with lots of fun on a hot summers day, much better than going into the sea, which in the sixties remember was filthy.

I still have somewhere a photo of the sea encroaching on the landward side of Marine Drive, which shows a sign sticking out of the water, which says NO PARKING ON MARINE DRIVE. It was taken sometime in the mid-fifties, during the Spring half term holiday.
