why was this cut down in the first place, any one know. i grew up in orrell, would be interested. herd a few stories when i was a kid, not to sure bout em tho lol.
By the name it would suggest it fell down and was not cut down

By the look of the tree roots I would agree that the tree fell down.Has anyone got any info on the Red Lion that was across the road from the Stag in earlier days?
