This photo has been taken from Mill fields in the 1940's looking accross towards Billinge Rd. On the right of the picture you can see Bill Ryder's tram carriage on his pen, the older generation of the village will be able to remember this. Children in the past spent many happy hours playing in Blue Bell wood,on the swings, jumping brooks, climbing trees, making dams the list goes on, things you dont see today.

I lived in Ince so don't know this area, and yet it reminds me of my own childhood, as do your lovely memories, Janice.

Another great photo Janice. Probably late 40's because you can see the roof of the first pair of semis on the, then, new council estate. Graham Boyle lived in the first house and Hendlys in the second.I think every lad in D.G. spent many happy hours in 'Bluey Wood' but you had to be careful that neither Jack Lyon nor Esther Fearns were working their respective fields because they owned the wood between them and didn't take kindly to trespassers.
