I just love these old pictures.
Those buildings of course no longer exist with the likes of Starbucks in that location. The pavement however is just as wide and old maps state Fish Stones on this spot which might have been a permanent feature to keep the fish cold.
The council should put up a plaque or sign in that location saying 'Site of the Old Fish Stone Market'.

PS, just saw another posting with a much clearer picture.
What was the name of the pub further up Millgate on the right opposite the Ship?
