Could this have been a Foresters 'Club Day'?
Many friendly societies held them. A procession would usually be followed by a Gala or Field Treat.
Dennis, If you look at this again I think this is looking down Warrington Rd towards Platt Bridge, looks like the big brick wall that was around the old school.
