I agree, I think today, the Market Hall would have been saved and refurbished. It's interesting to see the New Clock Tower up before the old market was pulled down ,I never realised that.
The council did the wrong thing knocking down our life source of Wigan. The market was my life. My Dad Bert Curran had a fruit stall 1972 until he died 1977. Dawbers on the front facing BHS known as 20 Hope Street. THE OLD MARKET WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST THE NEW ONE WAS THE DISASTER THAT ENDED A FAMILY BUSINESS AS MUM ALSO GOT CANCER.
