After seeing a comment about Wigan town centre before Library street was opened, I found this one in my book of coloured photos.

There is a clip on u tube of Mitchell and Kenyon's film in this area (1902),showing what may have been the tram ticket office.

It's lovely, Aitch. What is the little "shed"-type building?

Comment by: Ron Hunt on 14th February 2010 at 11:21

I think the shed was the tram offices.

The shed would be the tram crews brew cabin, I remember the one for the Taxi drivers, very similar in King St West.

I live in Australia, & we have a bone-handled knife stamped
J M Hall 17 Market Place Wigan. We were given it in Birkendhead in 1967 by an old lady. Does anyone know how old it might be?

Jem I have scissors with exactly the same stamp. Did you find anything out about them? Xxx
