Peter Frost, I've been following my partner's family tree and found this picture in my search for any images of Lancaster St. It's a strange coincidence reading your comments because my partner's great-grandfather also lived in No.3 Lancaster Street - but in 1881! Before that in 1871 they lived in Rock Farm, Warrington Road. It's fascinating how small this world is :)

Perhaps no connection - there's a W Frost listed on Ince Cenotaph. When I was researching the names I could not identify him. His name doesn't appear in the Observer WW1 obituaries, and I couldn't narrow down anyone on the CWGC list. But I did find there was a William Frost of Belle Green Lane baptised at Christ Church in June 1880, his parents were John (Iron Worker) and Jane - but, although he could be the man commemorated, a William Frost, son of John, was buried in Ince Cemetery, aged 2+ in 1882.
On the other hand, names of men who later turned out not to have been killed were sometimes inscribed on memorials... maybe your Wilfred was one such?

Forget my previous comment - spurred on by Jack's comment, I tried a bit harder to find W Frost - and came up with Pte. Wilfrid Frost, son of Margaret FH Frost of 117 Manchester Road. Died 3rd June 1918. From the headstone inscription, I'd guess he was RC.
