I worked there for a year in 1979/80 as part of a job creation scheme. We removed the grave surrounds, put down topsoil and seeded it for grass. We also attacked with great vigour 100 year old rhododendrons and eventually won the fight. :-D

We used to get us jack-bit from a pie shop just across the road (please... tell me the name!), they made the best ox tongue barm cakes on this green earth!

Our mess hall was the cellar of the church. Originally it was a little shed at the back of the church yard... the cellar being reserved for spades and wheel barrows and such. But during the winter we were dithering with cold... whilst the spades and wheel barrows were hot to the touch when we dragged then out each morning. So we swapped! :-D

The equipment went to the cold shed... we went to the cellar!

Dennis,
The pie shop was Ernie Jones,

The pie shop was E. Jones and Son. It was run by Geoff Jones and his mother for many years until mother died a few years ago. Geoff sold the shop a couple of years ago and still lives in Bamfurlong.
