This was my grandads shop he sold everything from a bathroom suit to toilet rolls !! and is still alive and living in Spain

iremember your dad i used to live at no 12 dicconson st
next door to the shoe shop, he used to stand in the doorway of the shop a lot, how old is your dad we were the last family to move out prior to demolition in 1971.

sorry i put your dad instead of grandad is his name bill
i was only in junior school at the time and it was a long
time ago,ask him if he remembers billy alkers paper shop
and the local policewoman big amy.

Thursday 12th Aug 5.15pm William (Bill) Davies passed away at his home in Blackpool, He will be missed dearly,He had shops in Wigan from the 50s up till 1980s RIP Gramps x
