My,, this reminds me of my very first job as a butchers boy assisstant and believe it or not the firm i started to work for had horse and cart dilivery they were about fading it out just after i had started it was J.MORRIS &SONS of 136 FROG LANE , as of today there is an housing development around tha area as for the shop that too is now a new build house.
Takes me back to the early 1950’s around Harrogate Street and Douglas Street when so many vehicles were still horse drawn. Ice cream cart (not sure if it was DeRomas or Cassinellis) Rag & Bone man, a Tinker sharpening knives and scissors, milk cart and the dust cart with those sliding side hatches. When the dust cart came my grandmother would take me outside to feed it a crust.
