Somewhere in Abram. We thought someone would recognise the chimney. From Alwyn's mums album.

Could possibly be Maypole Colliery, Abram.

I thought this photograph must have been taken around 1920 but my partner, who agrees with Arthur on the location, pointed out the very tall, apparently "thin" chimney that seems very unlikely for that time. Any ideas?

The chimney may be Grange colliery, Leyland Park, in the distance.

Leyland park isn't that close to Abram.

Stan , it was only half a mile from Bickershaw Lane to Grange Colliery and Alwyns mum lived on Bickershaw Lane. It was the only colliery I could find with a chimney anything like the one on the photograph. The chimney is much further away than the buildings at the other side of the field.

OK Peter. Thanks.
