Mesnes Street before Smiths bookshop was built on the site of Baillies bakery shop. Crawfords wool shop must also have been demolished as I remember Prams and Toys as the last shop in the row. Back Mesnes Street became Mesnes Terrace and widened, and became a thoroughfare for traffic most notably when the one way system was introduced in the 1970s, buses coming into town from Crompton Street, turned right into Standishgate, left into Dicconson Street, into Mesnes Terrace, left into Mesnes Street then Marsden Street to get to the bus station.

I worked in Margarets dress shop in the late 1950s it was in Mesnes Street. I left for Australia in 1960 and it was still there then.

Can someone tell me when the Roy Turners pram/toy shop closed? I bought my silver cross carriage pram from a pram shop on Mesnes Street in 80’s would this be the shop?
