Philip C mentioned shops in Bolney Street, New Springs. I found these pictures of demolition in the street in 1978. I don't have any details about the shop or lady on pictures as yet until I do more research.

I think that lady was Mrs Mac, she ended up working in the Chemiwines shop in New Springs ...

A sad picture with houses boarded up, it reminds me of my own street when everybody had been 'shunted' out!

I very much doubt the lady in this picture is 95!!! Not hard to do the maths if she was supposedly born in 1883 and this picture is from 1978!!!

Agree, this must be Longfield Street, definitely not Bonney Streer.

This is Longfield street l grew up in the house on the left before the entry.
My family would send me to Emmy Bailey’s shop for bacon and butter when l as very small , l think the shop was on a corner.

That's Emmie Trevena. Ran the shop right at the end of Chapel Street, opposite the Royal pub, a few doors around the corner from Top Chapel, where she was a Local Preacher. She passed away in about 1983 - lived in Bolton Road.
