  As a follow up to my previous posting here is a comparison of the 1955 Crispin Arms to the present day pub.

Contrary to the impression here the pub has a pitched slate roof.

My aunt and uncle lived at number 5 Burkett Street. It is not Scholes, it is Clarington Brook.

Hi Alan H, yes Clarington Brook was close by but you will find here that it lies in Higher Ince not Scholes, whereas Birkett Bank and the Crispin, is set firmly in Wigan in the district known as Scholes. On the very edge of that district but nevertheless Scholes.
