Ernest Rushton, out side his shop on the corner of Caroline Street and Chapel Lane. Thought to be around 1948 after he left the army.

A fascinating photo. I love old shops. Wish I could go in and choose some clothes for my 1940s wardrobe!

Sandra: I've no doubt that there will have been many a corner shop on the streets of Wigan, over the years, but perhaps Mr Rushton's corner shop is also that which is shown in Harold Riley's painting 'The Bird Shop, Wigan.' Just curious. Thanks.
Ernest Rushton is my blood Grandfather and Dad to my late Mum Sylvia Rushton (Lee) any family who is related it would be good to share memories
