This is George, the works electrician wiring up the warehouse door prior to the factory closure. I remember he was a Special Constable in Merseyside, I wonder if he ever joined up full time.

I remember George, didn't he have a black Porsche kit car back then ?

Russ, I think he did have a strange car, then again we all did. I drove a Capri 2.0S Sports in sky blue, loved that car. One day I was leaving the glass works with all my windows down on Webster st music blaring, Tommy Belshaw (i am sure that was his name) saw me and threw a bucket of water at my car in passing not realising I had all windows down. Funny old days..

I remember George well as I was one of the shift electricians when he started. Yes he did have an imitation porsche with a VW engine in. They were happy days then.

Shaun - I remember your Dad well, quite chatty and always laughing. I dont have any pics though, most of mine were taken when the place was shutting and most of the work force had already left. I wonder if Brian Bradshaw has any ??

If you look at the bank of photos on page 1, and then go to the picture labelled "Glass works empty warehouse" you will see in the far end of the warehouse there is a row of windows for a small block of the fitters units. I am positive that your Dad used to work in here.. Maybe Russ Robie could confirm this.
