I was John's fireman on his first ever driving turn. We was delivering supplies to signal boxes in the Wigan area so nothing really difficult or exciting. That shift was notable as it was John's first driving turn... but it was my last turn as fireman as I was redundant at the end of the shift. John was a very good mate (Colleague) and a very agile goalkeeper for the Springs Branch football team.

Hi Jarvo. 1968, when steam engines finished was the first time I was made redundant. Good observation Gibo!
