Growing up around Standish/Wigan in the 40's-60's, I can't remember seeing the floods like this, though I guess we did have them. I can remember seeing the Douglas overflowing the other side of Adam Bridge, as that was the flood plain (all built up now), once or twice when we headed for Warrington in the car.

No floods in Eleanor St and Melverley St since the Coppull Lane dam was built.
