Although I was a McAlpine's young engineer on the M6, our partners doing the structures were Leonard Fairclough Ltd.I am sure some folk from the Wigan area had been employed by them. This is the cover of their "house" magazine from 1964 regarding the M6 construction and also widening the A6 (The Crescent) in Salford. In the 1980's they became part of AMEC.

I worked as a Junior Engineer for Leonard Faircloughs from 1971 to 1975 on the M62 bridges and retaining walls.

Never heard of a company called Leonard Fairclough Ltd. The only Leonard Fairclough I know was the character name of a well known Coronation Street actor in the 1970s and 1980s.
