I think the Officer seated second from the left on the front-row appears in similar photos elsewhere on here; He also reminds me of 1950's TV policeman PC49. Splendid countenance.

Second row, far left - could be John Murphy, PC41.

JM I don't think that PC can be John Murphy because he isn't wearing Wigan Borough uniform.

The driving school then, was at the Lancashire Police H.Q. Hutton, near Preston.

Albert S - The presence of both Enos Banks and Joe Keegan on the photo might suggest it was an Advanced Course, as i believe they were both traffic men.

Mick L.D. I remember Enos going onto traffic in the early sixties, but I have no recollection of Joe Keegan going onto traffic in the early sixties. I do concede that the officer next to Enos, does resemble Joe.

Alex. Are you Joe’s son?. When Joe was retired, I visited him. He showed me a photograph album. It contained a lot of photographs relating to Wigan Borough Police.
