I recall the first Queen of Industry was a girl who lived in Anderton St around the corner from where I lived. A pretty girl named Janet Goulding. She went to St Pat's and worked at Heinz's

Yes I remember it well Jane. There was coloured spread in the Observer.
Great paper the Wigan Observer then, always something different, a far cry to today's Observer.

Lovely times Joan, and great memories of the then best paper in Britain, the Wigan Observer then at Woods street were pioneers in web offset printing technology one of the first to change to this unknown newspaper development and it was a success, that was back in 1966.
