Photo taken mid 1970s in Benidorm. Myself, on the left, with Ex PC Terry Dunn. Terry used to live next door to me before leaving the police force to buy The Wigan Pier Bar in Benidorm.

What an astonishing contrast to your two previous contributions Aubrey!

Aubrey: Don't let your Inspecter see this, your out of uniform son, not to mention a truncheon missing.

Comment by: Gareth Cheetham on 1st March 2018 at 13:51

We met Terry in 1980, and found out that we knew lots of people in common. A very nice man and terrific host. It was our first holiday abroad, and to find a part of Wigan in a foreign land was great. Happy memories

John G I can't imagine where he would keep his truncheon in that outfit.

Comment by: John G on 1st March 2018 at 22:35

DTease: I think they should have considered another police course in undercover work, something just not quite right here, appears to be defects in the undercover operations.

Comment by: Aubrey on 1st March 2018 at 23:06

JohnG and DTease,
Never used a truncheon in 30 years service, kept it concealed.

Comment by: DTease on 2nd March 2018 at 09:38

I must admit Aubrey, I haven't used my truncheon much in the last 30years either. Although, I did use it quite a lot when it was younger.

This bar is also featured under the 'Assorted' heading, under 'Holidays'from the 1970's.

I cant see their truncheons, but I can see their Bobbys Helmets.

Comment by: Veronica on 2nd March 2018 at 12:04

I wonder if they are wearing socks with their sandals. You could usually tell Brits abroad!

Comment by: John G on 2nd March 2018 at 15:51

Ray Smyth: I must admit Ray they do look impressive, in fact the young lady on Aubreys right looks very amused.

Comment by: DTease on 2nd March 2018 at 18:41

Very important them helmets Ray. After all, if someone managed to get hold of your truncheon you wouldn't want the rascal to batter you round the head with it would you?

Comment by: Poet on 2nd March 2018 at 19:20

Would sausage be on that menu on the right?

Comment by: GW. on 2nd March 2018 at 23:17

Are we talking about members of the special branch here?

Comment by: DTease on 2nd March 2018 at 23:56

Lord knows GW I've been called a bit of a "member" on more than one occasion over the years.

Comment by: Poet on 3rd March 2018 at 00:57

Thanks Jeanette for the reference to the other photo. A must see warning for all mad dogs and Englishmen.

Comment by: John G on 3rd March 2018 at 02:34

Yes DTease, but one thing you,GW and myself can say with pride, we have been "proud members"

Comment by: Albert. on 3rd March 2018 at 16:54

Quite a while Aubrey since I last met up with you, and the was at a funeral. Over the years you hadn't changed very much, from when we worked together in the very early sixties.

Comment by: Aubrey on 3rd March 2018 at 19:27

Thanks Albert, you would not know Terry, he joined Wigan Borough after you had left.
