An advert for the Foden rear mounted two-stroke
engined coach chassis from the 1950s.
Foden Motors at Sandbach built the engine and
chassis, and we think the coachwork was from
Bellhouse Hartwell at Westhoughton. The coach
was new to Smiths Tours of Wigan. Picture is

Nice pic Ray, the coach must have had big side lockers to carry all the passengers luggage, in the late 80s/90s we used to get 50 suitcases in the rear of the AEC's and Volvos.

Good photo Ray.The motor company also well known for their very good brass bands?
Nice photo Ray you may well recall that Reed Transport had quite a few eight leggers with the two stroke engine and when you got them really wound up ( on song ) not much could live with them and they had a really low engine in cab cover so you could easily move to near side to exit if required.Happy Days Ray
