When I moved to Kent in 1964. This company did my furniture removal. The first thing the driver said on getting out of his cab. "By the krin, it's an overcoat warmer down here."
Norman Higham who gave me the photo said that it was taken in the TA (Territorial Army) Drill hall in Powell Street.
In the earlier days, Stringellow Bros depot was in Canal St
where today the present TA building is. Some connection ???
I seem to recollect that they had their offices on Park Road, near to its junction with Springfield Road. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
You are quite right Albert, the office was on Park Rd where it met the bottom of Springfield Rd. I think they also ran a car rental facility there very briefly in the early 60s

Their garage was at Martland Mill Going away from Wigan where the old road ran alongside the canal there was a sharp right bend at the end and on it was the access to it'
The old scrap vans and buses were cleared away three or four years ago by Ainscough Metals
Interesting photo, if anyone can decipher the registration number ( looks like JP 6966),please comment. I think the original coach was owned by Smiths Tours in 1948 as a sister vehicle Reg.JP 6967 was bought by them in the same year and sold it 6 months later and was scrapped in 1962. I remember Stingfellows Removals as a youngster, seeing them in Standish and around Gidlow /Beech Hill area in the late 50's early 60's.

regarding the vehicle, as I posted on here in my original

The bridge between two homes....my friend derek rigbys dad drove one of these and parked it overnight behind our house in battersby st ince. Later on he drove a coach for stringfellows
Further to earlier comments re Stringfellow's premises, didn't they also have a booking office at the top of Library St. right hand side very near to what was then the Midland Bank?
Hi DerekB. You have just reminded me Derek. That was the office where I booked my removal to Kent.
Stringfellow's did have a place on Park road near the junction with Springfield Road; at one time they had a notice board outside advertising coach trips.
