Can you imagine asking modern women to do this job? They would look at you as if you were wrong in the head. The modern aspect of this is the flow of immigrants into the Uk are doing the jobs the born and bred won't do. The above , I would bet , were all born and bred in the uk . For me it is an important note in history, how jobs/work ,represented by these women
has changed up to the modern day. Pictures like these are so valuable as they show women actually did this , whereas now it would not be allowed .

If immigration hadn't been allowed so freely our born and bred would have done the jobs, but for a fair wage,the employers with greed for vast profits will never change.
