One I missed from the series - shows what was probably the reality at the top of the shaft - wagons being handled by men, rather than the pit brew lasses.
The caption reads 'Method of suspension in the Wigan mines in England. You can see the cage, with its two levels, its roof, and the four chains from which it hangs.'
Someone with better computer skills than me may be able to decipher the notices you can see.
This view is very different from that featuring the lasses - it's obviously a different pit, and looks more substantial than that in the other pic.

Rev David Long: I can open the magnification ok on my tablet, the large sign on the left states, Special rule No-26 in English I am unable to read the small print.
