Photograph taken 12 th of July 1990. The colliery was closed by British Coal in March 1993, then reopened in March 1994 by U.K.Mining. ( formerly R.J.B. Mining ) . The colliery then went on to produce 8.4 million tonnes of coal before production finally ceased in March 2006. The site was demolished in 2007 and is now a housing development. For the purists among us, the Wigan connection being the chocks, obviously.

For U.K. Mining, read U.K. Coal.
