This shot was taken looking northwards obviously, so I'm guessing that the dirt rook on the right of the picture would have been the spoil from Ellerbeck, would that be correct ?

Ozy if it was taken from boundary lane standish then the spoil heap would be chisnall hall coppull

In today's terms there is probably several million pounds worth of plant there and its just left in the open. Today that would be fenced off locked up and monitored by a Battalion of security guards.

Correct, we are looking North when I took the photo and taken late afternoon. On the right are the slag heaps from Chisnall Hall pit. It was an different era back then and I guess trust played a large part in leaving plant like that. Sunday was the day that the fitters could work on the machines without any hold ups.Having said that, some Sundays were a working day for the muckshifting team and engineers. I can remember hordes of locals standing on Miles Lane bridge on a Sunday afternoon as the TS24's and blades were forming the batters.
