Hi Broady, I'm sorry to say but I don't do Facebook or Twitter.I was with McAlpines from July 1961 to October 1965 covering the M6 contracts.Looking back on my career, the time I spent working on the M6 as a junior engineer gave me good grounding for the following years to come. The work was hard with long days and sometimes weekends and, especially on the Preston -Lancaster section, if you missed the works bus from Wigan in a morning one had a problem getting to Bilsborrow office. Mind you a number of senior engineers had a car so a lift was always a possibility, otherwise Ribble buses.When working with the soils lab team my boss was Howard Stevens.

Howard is retired but still active amongst the pensioners. Would you mind if I used some of the photographs on the McAlpine web site. I am sure lots of the members would love to see them. I would of course mention the source of the photo's.
